New help for workers

Tier 2 package
New support is coming for workers in areas under tier 2 restrictions. In these areas, pubs, restaurants, and other businesses have seen a drop in sales but won’t qualify for the existing support. Later today, Chancellor Rishi Sunak is expected to announce an update to the Job Support Scheme, which is replacing the furlough scheme from next month.
Struggle to pay bills
Millions of people are struggling to keep up with their rent, mortgage, and other repayments, according to the Financial Conduct Authority. It found that 12 million people are now financially vulnerable, up by 2 million since February. Almost a third of adults have suffered a drop in income and black and minority ethnic respondents have been hit hardest, with 37% reporting a hit to their incomes.

Norway trade deal
We’ve struck a temporary agreement with Norway to allow trade to continue if there’s a no-deal Brexit. It only covers goods so far, but they’re looking into an agreement for services and investments too. Norway is a member of the European Economic Area and so has access to the single market, despite not being an EU member.

Over 1,000 people now make more than £1 million* a year by selling stuff on eBay - up by 35% from last year. Sellers cashed in on lockdown spending trends, peddling books, beekeeping equipment, and lingerie.
