The outcome of the US presidential election is currently too close to call, with millions of votes still to be counted. About an hour ago, Donald Trump falsely claimed to have won the race. However, there are large numbers of postal votes that need to be processed, so it could be days before we know the actual result.

Pubs will be able to sell “click and collect” beers over lockdown, in a relaxation of the planned restrictions. Punters will have to pre-order their drinks online or by phone, and won’t be allowed to come in. Pubs have welcomed the news but are still campaigning to be allowed to sell alcohol off-licence, like they did last time.

Essential shops and services will still be trading as usual, including supermarkets, food shops, and garden centres. Hotels will still be open, but only for essential work trips. Everything else will shut tomorrow for at least a month.
