Refunds for students?

Thousands of first-year students locked down in their halls of residence are demanding a refund of their tuition fees. The regulator, the Office for Students (OfS) said unis must consider paying refunds - but it could be a while. There’s still a backlog of student complaints dating back to March when the first lockdown started.

Boom won’t last

House prices will rise 2% this year, but stagnate next year. That’s according to a poll of property experts, who expect to see the current house price boom fizzle out after the stamp duty holiday ends. They’re also concerned that a rise in unemployment will mean people struggle to buy.

Greggs has said it will end the year with more stores than it started with, despite recently shuttering some for good. The baker plans to bring sausage rolls to the suburbs, with tasty new sites located away from city centres. But the pandemic has taken a large bite out of sales, so it’s also warned that some jobs might be at risk.
