London loses green crown

Amsterdam and Zurich have overtaken London as the top cities for green investment. The City of London think tank ranks 74 world cities for their investment in sustainable development - London’s been on top for the quality of its green finance for the past 2 years. The amount raised in green bonds on the London Stock Exchange has surged from £8bn in 2017 to £22.4bn this year.

Locked phones banned

Mobile networks will soon be banned from selling phones locked to their own network. From December 2021, devices will have to be sold unlocked - meaning they work on any network. The move comes after regulator Ofcom found that getting a phone unlocked was too complicated, which was putting customers off from switching to a better deal.

Damaging creativity?

Working from home is damaging the UK’s creativity, and could harm the economy long term, according to Anthony Haldane, chief economist at the Bank of England. In a speech, he acknowledged that the shift to home working during lockdown had its benefits. But he warned that we’re losing opportunities for creative expression and innovation.
