House prices drop
Plus: over 70s get jab, UK shuts borders, remote vacancies triple, electric car owners struggle to charge.
Stamp duty window closing
House prices have dropped 0.9% in January according to Rightmove. Sellers are trying to squeeze in a last-minute sale before the end of March as the end of the stamp duty holiday approaches. The property website says it’s getting 33% more traffic than this time last year - but warns sales that start now are unlikely to complete in time.

Over 70s get jab
The coronavirus vaccine rollout is hitting its stride this week, with over 70s now being offered the jab. The government has promised that all adults will be invited for their first dose by September. 10 new mass vaccinations centres are due to open this week to expand capacity even further.
UK borders closed
All travel corridors to the UK have now been closed. People arriving at our borders need to show a negative coronavirus test and will still need to quarantine for 10 days.
Remote workers wanted
Job ads offering the option of remote work have tripled over the course of 2020, according to industry data. More businesses are offering remote working to new recruits after having to adapt to the coronavirus crisis.
Battery low
Electric car owners could struggle to find a public charging point* which could thwart the government’s plans to get everyone driving electric by 2030. Local councils are planning to install an average of just 35 charging stations each over the next 4 years. In a survey, 53% of Brits without off-street parking said they’re not considering buying an electric car.
