South east joins property bounce
The housing market continued its buoyant rise in January, and this time the trend is country-wide. Last year saw growth in many areas of the country, but London and the south east have seen prices fall until now. Despite the strong start, some experts say this is a response to pent-up demand from last year’s uncertainty, making it hard to predict what will happen next.
Cannabis oil swindle
Products containing cannabidiol (CBD) could be pulled from the shelves by March next year if they’re not approved by the regulator. It’s not psychoactive (so you can’t get high from it) but some people use it for conditions such as pain and insomnia. Trials have shown some products are a rip off, containing almost no CBD at all, and others contain potentially hazardous ingredients.
Give us a twirl
Marks and Spencer has appointed Alex Dimitriu as its new menswear director to help turn the department around after last year’s skinny jeans shambles, which saw a big over-order of men’s slim-fit jeans in small sizes. The error saw the department store’s revenue fall 3.7 in the third quarter of last year.
Love Island investment advice
Would you take investment recommendations from an influencer? Stars of Love Island have been criticised for sponsored social media posts promoting online foreign exchange (FX) traders (paywall). But FX trading is very risky and isn’t recommended for anyone who isn’t a professional.
