Full year of furlough

Furlough scheme has been confirmed until the end of March - which will mark a full year of the scheme. We’re back to the original deal: the government will pay 80% of your wages up to £2,500 a month. It’ll apply to the whole of the UK, and is expected to protect millions of jobs.

Brexit bedlam

There will be significant disruption at the border when the Brexit transition period ends in January, according to the National Audit Office (NAO). It says traders are unlikely to be ready for the new checks the EU will have to do on goods going in and out. Preparations are underway - but with limited time left, officials are worried we won’t be ready in time.

Financial advisers banned

Three former financial advisers have been banned from practising by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) after being convicted of sex crimes. It’s the first time the FCA has banned people for non-financial misconduct.

Rogue debt advisers

Fee-charging debt companies are once again posing as debt charities, in ads that Google had banned last year. The misleading ads are targeting people searching for free advice about dealing with problem debt. It can spell bad news for financially vulnerable people, who can end up paying extra interest for debt consolidation plans.
