If so, this is your decade. 120,000 new green energy jobs need to be created by 2030 in order for the UK to meet our climate targets, according to a report by the National Grid. It also warns that one fifth of current energy sector employees are due to retire in the next ten years.
Taste the difference
Sainsbury’s has pledged to spend £1 billion on reducing its carbon footprint. The supermarket has said it aims to bring its greenhouse gas emissions down to net zero by 2040. Will it be good for business? Quite possibly. The company has reduced its carbon emissions by 35% since 2005, while growing the business by 46%.
Dry Jan gains popularity
More than one in 10 Brits have given up alcohol for the month, and it seems we want something better to drink than a dismal lime and soda. The industry is rising to the challenge: the "No-to-low" category, which includes beers, wines and spirits, is now worth £188 million (paywall) and growing 23% year-on-year, according to Nielsen.
