The US Congress has officially confirmed Joe Biden as the next president amid rioting by Trump supporters. A pro-Trump mob broke into the Capitol building to try and disrupt the process. Trump himself has now been banned temporarily from Twitter and Facebook - they say it’s because his posts were contributing to the risk of ongoing violence.
Cheaper leasehold fees
Owners of leasehold properties with short leases will no longer have to shell out thousands to extend them. Government reforms to the rules, affecting around 4 million homes, will abolish some of the steepest fees for extending a lease.

Good Christmas?
Some retailers had a bumper festive season, despite the coronavirus chaos. Sainsbury’s Christmas sales soared by 9%, while homewares outlet B&M revenues climbed 22.5% in the last 3 months of the year.
